These are some common psychological difficulties in the area of anxiety and stress with which I have worked and may be able to help you cope. They are briefly described here but not meant to be used as a diagnostic tool.
Anxiety
Affecting all age ranges, anxiety is one of the most common psychological difficulties. Anxiety frequently interferes with sleep, exacerbating the problem.
Social Anxiety - fear of social situations and meeting new people.
Specific Phobias - fears intensified by exposure to feared situations or stimuli-most commonly fear of public speaking and fear of animals or specific situations.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - categorized under the anxiety disorders because usually the compulsions performed are done in order to avoid the anxiety generated by the obsessive thoughts. Some people do not engage in compulsive behavior but have obsessive thoughts.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - after exposure to a traumatic event, the event is "re-experienced" and things associated with the event are avoided. Additionally, difficulty with sleep, concentration and anger are usually experienced.
Panic Disorder - recurrent, unexpected panic attacks. Sometimes the fear of having a panic attack makes leaving home or safe situations difficult.
